filled with explosives and nails and hidden in this backpack. tonight investigators continue to search for the person responsible. >> all three of those who died in the attack have now been identified. 29-year-old crystal campbell of medford, massachusetts and eight-year-old martin richard of boston. the third victim was a boston university student from china. his family has asked his name not be released. >> all were remembered during a vigil on boston common. earlier in the evening, thousands gathered for a vigil honoring martin richard. tonight 70 suks of the injure >> tonight 76 of the injured are in hospital and some with serious injuries. >> among the injured is 11-year-old aaron hern of ma -- of martinez. the community came together in force to support him and his family. abc news reporter john alston is live at a restaurant where thousands of dollars were raised. john? >> carolyn, the hern family

was supposed to return to martinez today after their trip to boston. because of what happened people i'm went to the cafe to make what happened a little easier. they ate pasta and salad at $5 a plate, but donated much more. it was put together by rocks on main whose grandchildren go to school with the injured child. >> it was senseless to go on facebook every day about the clam chowder when this hit so close to home. >> reporter: aaron hern was waiting for his mother to cross the finish line when shrapnal tore into his thigh. friends and strangers of martinez wanted to help with expenses so they could stay with aaron. they raised $4500. >> they are in awe of how much

the community has shown them the love and total come passion and support. >> our neighbors, our great neighbors as seen by everything that has taken place and everybody has been overwhelming. >> they are trying to raise money where aaron is a 6th grader. >> it is a little unsettling because it is not every day you hear about somebody you kind of though or have seen around school and they are in the hospital and in surgery. >> aaron remains sedated in intensive care. he is scheduled to have surgery again tomorrow. his family will probably be in boston for at least another week. live in martinez, john alston, abc7 news. >> thank you. ama dates is in boston tonight covering the bombing firsthand for us there. today she spoke with aaron's father about the attack and how his young son is doing. >> aaron hern is is an athletic and energetic 11-year-old. tonight he is sedated in

children's hospital boston. he was with his dad, alan and little sister abbie waiting for mom katherine to cross the finish line when the first and then second blast went off. it was instant chaos. >> i saw my daughter and grabbed her and we ran a little up the street. >> he soon realized that aaron wasn't with them. >> i found him on the sidewalk on his back with some other people who were injured. he was conscious and he talked to me and said my leg really hurts, daddy. he was being pretty brave. >> someone used a belt to make a turnikut for aaron's leg. once at the hospital the family heard from the doctors. >> he is doing well considering. it was a major wound, but it was going to be all right. he had no injuries to anything vital. the bone wasn't broken and no arteries were cut. >> as aaron recovers in the hospital, law enforcement keep close watch over boston. military police in boston common, s.w.a.t and heavily

armed officers everywhere. through the security people still managed to pay their respects to those killed and injured by the eke plosion. explosion. aaron jasper drove from new york to add a flower to this memorial. >> shocking being from new york and we know how it is. i know how people feel. i wanted to come out and give support and toanyway i can and o help out anyway i can. >> a lot of runners came back to the scene to see what was going on and others were quick to get out of the city. as for the hern family, they don't though when they will be able to go back to california. aaron has a surgery tomorrow to assess his wound examine will figure out what kind of care he will need from there. ama dates, abc7 news. >> people are showing their support for aaron by sharing this get well soon badge on their facebook pages. you can share the badge by going to facebook.com/abc7 news. ama spent time at the bomb site today. she tweeted the picture of the intersection of arlington and boylston. the finish line is toward the back of the picture. she will bring us more live

updates from boston tomorrow. and you can follow ama from boston at amaabc7. now more on an envelope sent to a senator that contained the deadly poison ricin. they are testing the mail in land over, maryland to see if any other mail is contaminated. it was addressed to the mississippi senator's washington office and postmarked in memphis. they are focusing on a person who has written to lawmakers in the past. and developing news in san jose. a fire at a home packed with ammunition. it started in a garage off ostrich court and then spread to a pair of adjoining houses. a resident told firefighter there's were 2,000 rounds of ammunition inside. the fire captain, however, said the ammo doesn't pose a danger to them because it pops and does not fire the bullets. a neighbor says though it put on quite a show. >> pop, pop, pop. everybody was back on the

street over there and as the firemen went in we migrated to over here. >> firefighters have controlled the fire. no one was hurt. a break in the case of a paramedic murdered in oakland. police arrested five teenagers, all between the ages of 14 and 16. their arrests come on the same day as funeral services for quinn blair and two weeks after he was shot at a stop sign in the oakland hills. alan wang is live with new details for us. alan? >> carolyn, the arrests were announced here today shortly after the memorial service for a man p was minding his own business when he was killed. and a lot of people were shocked to inned foo out those arrested arrested -- to find out those arrested were teenagers. >> the persons responsible for this man's murder range in the age from 14 to 16 years old. >> police say five minors were involved and one of them fired the gun during a robbery that left 34-year-old quinn boyer

dead. they say it is part of a disturbing wave of violent crime from teenagers. >> parents, adults, school district members, politicians need to step up to the plate and take responsibility for changing the dynamics of the city. >> after being shot he crashed into a ravine off keller avenue on of a 2nd. the santa clara county paramedic died two days later. police say he just had teaken his father home -- taken his father home from the doctor. the arrests were announced on the same day a memorial service was held for boyer in oakland. he and his wife would have celebrated their second anniversary next week. >> is there anything to do to help -- >> at a meeting they learned their pso or problem solving

breaking news tonight. san francisco authorities are on the lookout for at least one escapee from a juvenile facility near twin peeks. there was a break out around 10:00 at the youth guidance center and police are searching the area right now. new at 11:00, at&t announced a reward to find those who tampered with phone lines in the south bay. several fiber optic cables were cut in a manhole in san jose this morning. it happened a short time after someone fired shots damaging a pg&e substation on monterey highway. sky 7hd as crews were cleaning up afterward. the investigators believe the two incidents are connected. well because of the boston bombings, san jose police are stepping up security. they announced today more iewn

being created by a company called obscure digital. they also shot this video of the experiment used to build the show. they made 10 rep replicas of the facad. one so small it was on a microscope slide. and then they used all kinds of natural phenomena to create affects projected on to the explore for yum. >> we are actually taking into account the geometry of the building to wrap the light around the building. >> the new explore for yum is directly across from the embarc building. and so master the master contror the light show is actually mounted on our roof. the show uses 11 super high powered projectors. they are coordinated to create a continuous image. the company says it will look woven into the skin of the building. >> how cool is that? >> fascinating. >> that's neat what they have done. the light show will go on from 8:30 to 11:00 tomorrow and thursday night and it is free. >> we have a link and information about that and

looking fine for those outdoor plans. here is a look at the week ahead. san jose and the temperature is 73 degrees. expected to get up to 77 on thursday and 80 on fry da. you can see a general warming trend as we head to the next couple days. it is not just san jose, we are expecting warmer weather with this area of high pressure taking control of our weather. we are going to see a string of sun intoe and warmer days ahead for the entire bay area. high pressure will get closer to the bay area. certainly lighter winds tonight. we have a dry air mass in place. with clear skies, the temperatures are going to tumble. by morning freezing cold in napa and 32 degrees and 34 degrees in santa rosa and 36 in cloverdale. vallejo is down to 38 along with morgan hill. 37 in santa cruz and livermore 36 degrees. right around the coast and bay you will start out cool. low to mid40s. make sure your kids have a sweater or jacket when you take them to school and make sure you are bundled up as you head out the door first thing in the morning. highs tomorrow afternoon are

in our mild in ourtable along inland communities. sunshine in the north bay. 74 degrees in napa and santa rosa. a nice recovery after starting out very cold. and frosty in some parts. 72 in oakland and concord and out toward livermore. 70 fremont and san jose. 72 degrees and 69 in san mateo. 67 in san francisco. as you look at the seven-day forecast, it will feature the warmer weather. thursday and friday we will get you into the low 80s inland. upper 50 tots low 60s coast -- 50s to the low 60s coast. not a lot of warming expected near the coastline. saturday and sunday the inland areas will continue to see the temperatures going ug the coast, along the coast, the upper 50s to low 60s with a return of the low clouds first thing in the morning. monday is the warmest. low 60s coast. and then you will see a slight dip in those temperatures on tuesday. carolyn and dan? >> very good, sandhya. thanks very much. sports with larry beil is
